Happy Leap Day! Welcome to the new subscribers! Glad to have you along with the flock.
First and foremost, Miss
your favorite, Miss Lucy wanted to share her breakfast with you. She’s pretty serious about it, so you may not get a very big bite! Our fiber fun day was fabulous last Saturday. Two of the Colorado contingent came up for the weekend. It was so good to see my friend Brandi, and I finally got to meet the amazing Cori! We also had another new lady who just purchased a wheel and is very interested in learning to use it. Cori took her under her wing and had her spinning in no time.
Lots of yummy food was to be had, and the flummery seemed to go over well. There was also lots of laughing over how it jiggled on the plate, and it was all quite inappropriate. Course that didn’t stop us!
It’s starting to feel like spring is coming. The sheep are all acting like lambs, bouncing around and playing with each other. I love watching the daily zoomies amongst the flock. They are also starting to range away from the hay bale in search of anything new and green they can munch. There isn’t much yet, other than a few patches around the house the sheep can’t get at.
Brandy horse gave me a bunch of her hair when I gave her a kiss this morning. I spent several minutes picking it out of my lip balm before she got her grain. She’s shedding out already. I need to dig out the shedding blade and attack her with it. She has been rolling more trying to get all that hair off her back. I can’t imagine how itchy it makes her, and she does love a good brushing.
It’s going to be almost 60 here today, and I’m taking advantage of it by hanging out my weekly laundry. I really dislike using a dryer, and much prefer to hang it out. Smells so much better. I’m waiting for it to warm up a bit more before I open the windows for a few hours.
I’m thrilled to have some warmer weather, but if we don’t get some substantial rain soon (maybe this weekend) we are going to be in for a world of hurt this summer. There have already been two 1000+ acre wild fires last weekend that were fairly close to me. My heart hurts for Texas and the one they are dealing with. So very scary.
The Swallowtail shawl is coming along. I just hit the second pattern change where I’m just starting the lily of the valley border. I’m really enjoying knitting lace again. I haven’t done any in a few years. Last lace was the Irish Diamond shawl I did. This afternoon’s plan is to knit some more and binge watch Northern Exposure.
I did make a new batch of peanut sauce this morning. I like to have it on hand for when I get a craving for it. It has a decided Asian flare to it. It’s super good on some grilled chicken or tossed with some ramen noodles instead of that sodium loaded flavor packet. Another favorite of mine is to make some sweet potato noodles and toss it with the sauce. I found “homemade peanut butter” on clearance at my local store and it tastes much nicer without all the additives and sugar in the regular commercial type stuff.
I make a double batch and freeze it in these cute silicone trays. In a few days i’ll pop them out and just store them in a plastic bag. About 45 seconds in the microwave have them ready to eat.
You can find the recipe linked below. If you don’t have the cooking blender shown on the page, don’t worry, you can still make it on the stove top.
I’ve been thinking about a new way to bring some income to the farm. I don’t want to say much yet and jinx it. I would appreciate some crossed fingers and good juju though!
Well, I think that covers about everything around here for the moment. Sorry I don’t have anything earth shattering for you. It’s just been a quiet week for a change. And I’m good with that!
Blessed Be!
Love watching Lucy eating, she’s taking her time and enjoying it. Going to make that peanut sauce today , 🥰🙏🙏🙏. Finally a break from the relentless rain here at the bottom of England in Cornwall. Put my washing on the line four days ago and then it poured and poured for two days. But as you say it’s so much nicer dried outside. Thank you for recommending my newsletter. I hope you’re doing ok, spring will help us move easier with our loss. Will be three years on 25th! How is that possible. First substack feels like lifetime ago. Thank you again xxxx Jessica
Sending good vibes and crossed fingers to the farm 🤞🏾
