The loss of a partner to go through this stage of life really socks. I can't have a dog where I live now but I have my two cats. I used to always have both a cat and a dog. Such different kinds of companionship but both wonderful.
You’ve lived In Wyoming long enough, look into the Pioneer Home in Thermopolis. It’s a good place to land. Great stories about being Dead-Head! I never got anywhere close to them.
Unfortunately, time does that to us. Did you know Stevie Nicks isthe same age as Elon's mom? Both older than me and better looking. My first husband spent time at the Avalon and Fillmore West. He was never really a Deadhead although I know he heard them play. We went to a lot of concerts back then. I can't even do the livestock anymore. And I am not looking for the day when I can't have dogs in my life. I still go on, try to tell the stories from husband one and husband two to keep their memories alive.
No, not really. I know people in town but no real friends. Nearest friend is over two hours away and not a dog person, allergic to cats. I gotta outlive them.
Thank you for your words of reflection. So much of what you wrote resonated with my ruminating moments. I know that we are entering another phase of our lives, but, I can't help that I look back on my younger days and wish that I had more time on earth. Your legacy as a Grateful Dead "deadhead" brings a smile to my face.
I am glad that your sheep provide some comfort since the loss of your "other half." 🐑 🙂
A full life. You have made the best of your time on this earth. Well done. Me, I've been stuck on the farm.
Thank you. There’s nothing wrong with being a steward of the land. It’s a calling that you answered.

I wouldn’t make it without my dog

Thanks! I’m not quite ready for the rest home. Sorry you missed it. It was a sight to behold.

You did good with your misspent youth!
Time sucks sometimes. I am trying to grow old gracefully but today I just couldn’t. Blessings to you my friend. I couldn’t live without my dogs.
I have no one here to care for himif anything happens. He's 12. My old cat is 14. I don't know what I'll do.
Good reason to live!!
That’s a really tough spot to be in. Do you have a near by friend who can take them in if something happens?

I can relate to the 3 am reflections, the wide sweep of memories, going back over a whole lifetime and the shifts that come with age.
Thank you. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes not.
