Worst part of braving the outhouse at my uncle's farm was trying to avoid the farm dog. As a child I was terrified of dogs and almost as terrified of the outhouse. And my mother did not indulge my fears😞 Fortunately when my own family moved to a farm in 1962 it had indoor plumbing.
The outside dunny! Yours looks quite pretty. We had those too - my mum talked of the one at her house when she was a kid. Down the back by a lilac. It had two half doors. So you either opened the top one (for air) and waved to anyone going by or opened the bottom one and waved your feet!
Love it! The one time I had to use an outhouse was at a country church where I was presenting the sermon of the day. I arrived early and had to go, so down the path I went. As I sat there, I looked up and there was one of the biggest wasp nests I had ever seen. Believe me, I moved in slow motion so as not to disturb the little devils, but got out of there as quickly as I could! lol
When we were raising our kids we went to a lot of reenactments. What we remember most is all the various outhouses we encountered. Homemade Hooters, portable johns (I would rather pee in the woods) and some fancy but still low-tech, paint buckets with a seat, etc. Thanks for the reminder!!

You’re welcome!
The two-seater is still in the back of the barn at camp! Love outhouses! Love you more!
Love you!
Nice view! A good place for a PEPA -- poop en plein air!
