Since nothing new or earthshattering (thankfully!) has been happening over the past week, I thought an update on general “stuff” would be good! I am scrambling to find some hay. I’m down to my last 1/3 of a round bale for the rams, who are on dry lot. Pretty much everyone around me is in the same boat. I have one neighbor who thinks he has several bales left that he can sell me one, and he also promises to give me a kitten from the stray tom who departed without paying child support to his catmama. Waiting to hear back from him now on both the hay and the kitten.
I took a quick peek. There is a 22 minute video that shows the rebuild. Watch it a few times and think about it. I’m in CT. so it’s a bit much of a drive. I’m sure that the farm all guys on yesterdays tractor could recommend some one too. Just do a you tube search for super m carb rebuild. I had checked for a m
Not so far. I was trying not to scare myself LOL!! Yes it’s a 53 Super M and I suspect the carb has never been rebuilt. 70 years is a good long time to run right
Why do you think the carb needs to be rebuilt? Do you have an air compressor with a blow gun nozzle there at the farm. Did you check the ignition for spark?
It will run but the air/gas is way off. Belches black smoke. Super low idle. Won’t run without stalling. The gas filter is clean. The gas line flows. Had two mechanics look at it. One thought he had it dialed in. Ran for 10 mins and crapped out again. Both said carb rebuild. Plus the choke lever came loose from itself inside the carb. Fixed that once by brazing it back on and it lasted a week.
I’m looking at hay prices and biting my nails too. Hoping it comes down with what I think will be a surplus. Crossing fingers, anyway.
I wish you much luck!
I was so happy I was wondering what flavor Gatorade the sheep like best and then in the next sentence you answered the question!
LMAO!!! I try to be a full service writer!
You are awesome - rebuild a carburator !! All that you do is amazing.
Thank you I appreciate the vote of confidence!!

Thanks! If I may ask where in CT? That’s my home state. I’m also on Yesterdays Tractors. They were going to be my next stop once I got the carb off
Redding
Nice. I’m from Simsbury
Ok. Wasn’t sure how far you were into this. Have you checked you tube for a video? Is that a model M?

Also did clean off the plugs but they are getting replaced also.
