No problem! Take your time. We'll just pet Ms. Bogas and whoever else wanders over until you get done. I hope I brought enough sheep cookies!

The bummer about equipment is they don't heal themselves. Hope you get everything back in working order ASAP!

How are the sheep doing in this heat, it's even hot for my son's alpaca, sheesh summer can very early this year.

They are usually pretty good. We have lots of trees so they always have shade. When it hits the high 90’s low 100’s I add gatorade to the stock tank and they drink lots of that. Hope you can stay cool!

wow I never thought about gatorade, what a great idea!!! LOL I am inside with an air conditioner and. my son keeps huge fans going in his barn for the chickens and alpaca plus he has a splash pad and sprinkler for them too so they can get wet to cool down. It’s a lot of work trying to keep the critters cool in the summer!!

It sure is! The sheep love the sweeter flavor of the water and drink more, plus the electrolytes sure dont hurt. We keep the big cans of powder on hand and just dump a whole can in the tank. We dont like to get them wet, as the steam coming off them really puts them into heat stress. I've almost lost sheep because someone decided they were too hot and soaked them down when I was not home.

Funny that the alpacas do well with the sprinklers, all the alpaca farmers here do it. They don't do heat very well (why he has very large fans in the barn), but they love running around in the below 0 weather! Snow doesn't even melt on their backs their fiber in the winter is so dense and insulates so well. Alpaca fiber is actually 3 times warmer than wool. But as a spinner I'm partial to wool :P.
