My late grandparents were homesteaders / farmers. When my mom was a kid, they had livestock. By the time I met them at age 6(ish) years old, they had got rid of the livestock and were basically just growing vegetables.
I never thought to ask them about why they stopped raising livestock while they were alive. But, in hindsight, I wish I could have asked them.
But I think maybe now that I've read this post, I don't need to ask them. I totally get it!
(However, none of this deters me from actually wanting sheep of my own! hahahaha!)
